What's new
The guide changes every week from what readers tell us. Newest changes are at the top.
Each sheet shows its version number at the top. If you printed an older copy, check here to see what changed.
16 October 2026 · Tidier behind the scenes
- No sheets changed. The guide is now built fresh each time from its sources, with no saved copy kept alongside them.
15 October 2026 · A smaller rating panel
- Under each sheet, the rating panel now starts with one question: was it useful? Pick a number and the other two questions, the comment box and Send open below it.
- The "Rate this sheet" button at the top still opens the whole panel.
15 October 2026 · Page 2 folds on every sheet
- On screen, every sheet now shows page 1 open and all of page 2 behind one box. The box says what's inside.
- The guide's owner can switch the whole guide to full pages instead, from the admin page. Printed sheets and PDFs haven't changed.
14 October 2026 · More room on the page
- Headings use a new font, and every page has more space between its parts.
- Trial on one sheet, M4: a short version sits under the title, with the key idea and one thing to try. Page 1 is open, and all of page 2 sits behind one fold. Printed sheets and PDFs haven't changed.
13 October 2026 · The calibration points on the model map
- The model map in the guide now shows the four calibration points, just under the drift grid. Each one opens its sheet, CP1 to CP4.
- Step 5 of "How it plays out" now reads "You notice it, and come back to the centre", and opens F8.
13 October 2026 · Easier access for the pilot
- Pilot participants can open the full guide from a private link, with no email and no code. The device remembers it for the rest of the pilot.
- Signing in by email works as before. A brief network hiccup no longer signs anyone out.
13 October 2026 · What you're seeing (new draft set for managers)
- A new draft set in the Leadership layer: V0 to V16, What you're seeing. Each sheet starts from a behaviour a manager sees, never a label for a person.
- V0 is a finder table. It goes from a behaviour to the patterns it can look like, the team step it weakens and the sheet to open.
- V1 to V9 cover behaviours in staff, like covering a gap instead of asking, saying yes to every request, or pulling back after a disappointment.
- V10 to V16 cover a manager's own drift as the team sees it. Each has one side for the manager and one for the person who works for them.
- Every sheet says when it stops being a coaching matter, and who to bring in.
13 October 2026 · The whole guide ties back to the team steps
- T2 Team Climate Check: each of the twelve lines now names its step on F7. The wording and numbers of the lines haven't changed. Page 2 reads the results by step, starting with the lowest one. Module 6 of the course matches.
- S1 to S8 and P1 to P10 now name the F7 steps they weaken, in their "Back to the centre" line.
- CP1 to CP4, P0 and C3 have a short "On your team" line. F1 and F8 list F9 in their related sheets.
- The draft sheets A9, A10, L1, L3 to L8, E1 to E5, B1 to B4, H3 and H5 to H7 now show where they sit on F7, like the other management sheets.
13 October 2026 · Each sheet names its team step
- M1 to M8 now name the F7 steps each pattern weakens, and what the team learns from it. This is added to their "Back to the centre" line.
- K1 to K10 now name the F7 step they work on, in the same line.
- T3 and T4 have a short "On your team" line, and T1 and T5 point to F9.
- F7's table now lists K4 Saying No under All-in, and K8 Leading at Scale under The score.
13 October 2026 · How drift moves through a team
- New sheet: F9 How Drift Moves Through a Team. It shows how one person's drift becomes the next person's pressure, and how that climbs the five steps on F7. One lab section is followed through a hard quarter. A table names the calibration point that holds each step, with one move anyone on the team can make.
- F7 now points to F9.
13 October 2026 · Moving between sheets
- All sheets in the guide's menu now opens a list of every series. Point at a series to see its sheets, and click one to open it. On a phone, tap a series to open its list. You can get to any sheet from any page without going back to the start.
- Every sheet now has a Back link at the top left. It takes you to the screen you were on before. If the sheet opened in a new tab, it takes you to that sheet's series in the list of all sheets.
12 October 2026 · A mark for the calibration points
- The calibration points now have their own small mark: two arrows coming back to a centre. It appears on CP1 to CP4, beside the four names on F8, and at the start of every "Back to the centre" line.
12 October 2026 · Help videos load faster
- The three help videos on the home page, How it works and Questions now play from our video service. Each one loads only when you press play.
12 October 2026 · How the guide is made
- The About page and the Terms now say how the guide is made. The model and the guide are the author's work. AI tools helped draft and produce the sheets, the course, the articles and the website, and the author reviews everything before it's published.
12 October 2026 · Back to the centre
- S1 to S8, M1 to M8, K1 to K10 and P1 to P10 now end with a short "Back to the centre" line. It names the calibration point each sheet calls on, and one way to use it. The pairing sheets name one point for the manager and one for the staff member.
12 October 2026 · Four calibration points
- New: CP1 Firm and Warm, CP2 Correction Without Rejection, CP3 Comfort Without Rescue and CP4 Contribution Without Recognition. The four phrases on F8 are now called calibration points, and each one has its own sheet. Each sheet shows how one push pattern and one pull pattern miss the point, why it works, how it looks in three directions, four layers of skill, and one two-week experiment.
- F8 now names the calibration points and points to CP1 to CP4.
12 October 2026 · Course videos stop when you leave
- A course video now stops when you go back to the list of modules, or anywhere else in the course. Before, it kept playing out of sight.
12 October 2026 · Module 6 video
- Module 6 of the course now plays its video. All six modules now have their video.
12 October 2026 · Course Module 6
- Module 6 of the course, Making it stick, and bringing it to your team, is built. It covers keeping one thing going, a realistic pace for change, and bringing the guide to your team safely with the Team Climate Check. An example shows how to read a pulse, and a guided practice plans a short team session, including what stays private. Its video is still to be recorded. All six modules are now built.
12 October 2026 · Module 5 video
- Module 5 of the course now plays its video.
12 October 2026 · Course Module 5
- Module 5 of the course, Hard conversations in practice, is built. It walks through five steps for hard feedback, shows where each pattern tends to pull you off them, and plays out the first two minutes of a real conversation. A guided practice plans your own first two minutes, and a two-minute timer helps you rehearse with your partner. Its video is still to be recorded.
12 October 2026 · Cleaner narration
- The videos for Modules 2, 3 and 4 have cleaner sentence endings. No line catches the start of the next one, and the last word of Module 3 is no longer cut short.
12 October 2026 · Module 4 video
- Module 4 of the course now plays its video.
12 October 2026 · Course Module 4
- Module 4 of the course, When two patterns meet, is built. It walks through two loops from the guide one step at a time, and a guided practice maps one loop of your own. Its video is still to be recorded.

- Module 3 of the course now plays its video.
11 October 2026 · Course Module 3
- Module 3 of the course, What calibrated looks like, is built. It sets out the four phrases, with two ways to miss each one, and a guided practice with six lines to rewrite. Its video is still to be recorded.
- Modules 2 and 3 now open only for signed-in guide readers, like the full sheets.
11 October 2026 · Module 2 video
- Module 2 of the course now plays its video.
11 October 2026 · Course Module 2
- Module 2 of the course, Four domains, eight patterns, is built. It has a grid of the eight patterns with the strength under each, and a guided pressure test for telling a pattern from a working style. Its video is still to be recorded.
- If you ask to join the course, your join link now comes to you by email once a group is ready.
11 October 2026 · The course
- Course is now in the top menu. The course page shows what Leading Under Pressure covers, how it runs, the six modules and the full Module 1 video, before you sign in.
- The front page has a third way to start: Take the course.
- Guide readers who aren't in a group yet can ask to join the next one from the course page.
- The access request form has a box for the course. The privacy page and the Questions page explain both.
11 October 2026 · Video player
- Pages for signed-in readers can now play longer videos with sound. The videos stream from Cloudflare, so the site stays fast.
9 October 2026 · Questions and answers
- New Questions page, linked from the top menu and the footer. It answers common questions about access, the model, using the sheets, privacy and fair use.
- Five short clips show how to sign in, find a sheet, get the PDF, track a change with the Drift Tracker, and rate a sheet. They have captions and no sound.
- The privacy page now says that a short note about each access request goes to the guide's owner by email.
- The request form has a new, separate box for email updates. It starts unticked, and nothing is sent until there's news. The privacy page explains it.
9 October 2026 · Fewer clicks
- Each sheet now opens with its first two sections in view. The rest of the sheet sits in two sections, plus one for sources.
- Each closed section has a short line that says what's inside, so you can tell whether to open it.
- Both videos were re-recorded to match. Printed sheets and PDFs haven't changed.
- The owner page now says which account you're signed in with.
8 October 2026 · Easier to read
- Each sheet now opens with its top block, then a list of section headers. Select a header to open that section, or use "Open all sections". Printed sheets and PDFs haven't changed.
- The front page is shorter: one situation, the video, two ways to start, and the way into the guide. The note about the author moved to the How it works page.
- Each part of the guide has its own quiet colour on screen: teal for the personal layer, blue for leadership, brown for management and green for running it.
- Sign-in now uses a 6-digit code from an email. If you leave the page to check your email, it remembers where you were.
- New download on S0 Recalibrate: the Drift Tracker, an Excel workbook for tracking how often a pattern shows up over weeks.
7 October 2026 · Health and wellbeing
- Four new draft sheets for managers, in a new set called Health and wellbeing.
- B1 When Someone Is Going Through Something: what to do when a person's life outside work is hard.
- B2 When It Isn't Drift: differences in how people think and work, and how to keep this guide from being used the wrong way.
- B3 Workload and Burnout: six places to look in the work itself, and what a manager can change.
- B4 Leading a Team That Sees Hard Material: what to do before, during and after, every week.
- These four touch on health. A health professional and HR haven't read them yet, and each one says so.
7 October 2026 · Managing at a distance
- Three new draft sheets for teams that aren't in one place.
- A9 Leading From a Distance: what distance takes away, four habits that replace it, and how to use a visit.
- A10 Hard Conversations by Video or Phone: which channel to pick, and what to do before, during and after the call.
- E5 Working for a Manager You Rarely See: the same problem from the staff side.
6 October 2026 · What calibrated looks like
- New sheet: F8 What Calibrated Looks Like. Most of the guide describes drift. This sheet describes the centre, in four short phrases: firm and warm, correction without rejection, comfort without rescue, and contribution without recognition.
- It shows the two ways to miss each phrase, where each drift pattern leaves the centre, and a four-line check to use after a hard conversation.
- F1 now points to it.
6 October 2026 · Terms of use
- The guide now has a terms page. It says what you may do with the sheets, and what the guide is and isn't.
- You may print a sheet and share it, unchanged, with the people you work with. Please don't post sheets publicly, sell them or change them.
- Every page of every sheet PDF now carries one line of small print in the left margin. On screen, the same line sits under the sheet.
- The starter pack has a short "Using this guide" box on its second page.
- The tick box on the access request form now includes the terms.
6 October 2026 · One menu on every page
- The guide now has the same menu across the top as every other page, so Home is always one click away.
- The guide's own menu (Start here, All sheets, Draft sets, Sources, About, Give feedback) sits on a second bar with the search box. On a computer, that bar stays in view as you scroll.
- Signed-in readers see "Signed in" in the guide as well. Sign out is on the sign-in page.
- On a phone, a sheet you open from the list starts at the sheet, below the menus.
- The three videos were recorded again to show the new menu.
5 October 2026 · Videos, phones and clearer words
- Three short videos show how the guide works. Each is narrated, with captions on screen. The tour is on the front page, and all three are on the walk-through page.
- A locked sheet now leads with "Request access", and says plainly that the sheet is in the full guide.
- On a phone, sheet text is larger and a sheet opens in the same tab, with a link back to your place in the list. F3 and the pairing sheets now stack properly.
- Tick boxes on a sheet now tick on screen. Ticks are not saved.
- The four parts of working life are called domains on every page.
- "Drift pulls on the intangibles" is now "drift strains the intangibles", so "pull" means one thing. This touches F1, F2, F5, S0 and M0.
- The pairing sheets P0 to P10 now open by saying anyone can read them alone.
- The situation sheets K1 to K10 say "page 1" where they said "the front".
5 October 2026 · Easier to find your way
- Search now copes with a whole sentence, such as "my team has gone quiet in meetings". If no sheet has every word, it shows the closest ones.
- Pressing Enter in the search box keeps the list in view. It opens a sheet only when there is one clear answer.
- The guide's "New here?" strip now starts with the on-screen self-check. F5 says so too.
- Links to other sheets show the sheet's title, not only its code.
- The request form shows a problem beside the field it belongs to, and says plainly when your request has gone.
- Signed-in readers now see "Signed in" on every page.
- On a phone, the walk-through scrolls to the reply after you pick an answer.
5 October 2026 · Display fixes
- F7 on screen: a stray line no longer runs through the five steps. On a phone, the steps now stack and the table reads one step at a time.
- F7 in print: the last row of the step table is no longer cut off.
- F1 and T1 on screen: the numbered points no longer show as boxes.
5 October 2026 · Plainer words about pressure
- The front page, the walk-through and the self-check result are reworded. They now say where pressure comes from: workload, a deadline, a strained relationship, or a doubt about yourself.
- F1, F4, F5 and S0 now name the same sources of pressure. F1 and F4 still say pressure does most harm when a person's sense of worth feels at risk.
- F4 and F5 now tell you to take some time with a result and check whether it rings true before you act on it.
- K4 has one new line for the person who hears a no.
- The pairing sheets P1 to P10 say more plainly that each person's drift is part of the pressure the other reacts to.
5 October 2026 · Errors, and a wider search
- Two new draft sheets in the lab moments set. L7 What to Change After an Error covers finding the causes of an error and choosing a fix that lasts. L8 Job Aids and Mental Load covers taking work out of memory.
- A7 and L5 now point to L7.
- Search now finds sheets by many more everyday words, such as "quiet quitting" or "1:1". Each sheet still shows up to five related terms.
4 October 2026 · A new sheet on trust
- New sheet: T5 Building and Eroding Trust. It shows how each drift pattern builds trust on a team, how it erodes it, and what the team learns from that. Page 2 covers pressure on trust that a manager doesn't control.
- F7, T1 and the manager sheets M1 to M8 now point to T5.
4 October 2026 · Easier to get in
- When your access is approved, you now get one email with a button. Select it and the guide opens.
- Signing in on a new device works the same way. The email also carries a code, if you'd rather type it.
- Every page now has a Sign in link at the top.
3 October 2026 · Style first, then drift
- The eight intangibles now sit at the centre of the four lines, two for each part of working life. F1, F2, F5 and S0 show where each one belongs.
- The self-check now finds your working style first, then your drift pattern. It shows how that drift pattern tends to look with your style.
- F5 has a new score sheet, drawn on the same four lines as the on-screen result.
- F3 and F4 say more plainly how style and drift differ. Style is where you start. Drift is how far pressure moves you from there.
- Every sheet now lists related terms, and search finds sheets by them. Try "change management" or "delegation skills".
- We're asking readers which name is clearest for "drift pattern". The question is at the end of the walk-through and the self-check.
2 October 2026 · The guide opens up
- Twelve sheets are now open to everyone, with no sign-in: F1, F4, F5, F6, S0, K1, K2, K3, K4, T2, P1 and P3.
- The rest of the guide opens when you sign in with a code sent to your email. Access is by request.
- A new five-step walk-through explains the model.
- Find Your Pattern is now on screen. Your answers stay on your device.
- The eight drift patterns are now drawn on four lines, one for each part of working life.
- The front page is shorter, and it starts with situations.

- The draft sheets cover managing a section, hiring, the pressure points of forensic work, and working with your manager and your peers.
- Every sheet now has a short rating form. Your ratings shape the weekly updates.
- Sheets A4 to A7 carry a draft label while labour relations and legal advisors review them.
- The free starter pack is open to everyone.
